Prince dies aged just 57

Prince (Prince Rogers Nelson) has died, his publicist has confirmed. The TMZ website had earlier reported that there had been a fatality at his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota, and later confirmed it was the 57-year-old musician.  Prince had been hospitalised the week before, with his private plane having to make an emergency landing in Illinois so the star could be treated for severe influenza on the way back from a gig in Atlanta. He later returned to home at Paisley Park and was able to appear on stage the following day. Prince became a global superstar in the 1980s, with albums such as 1999, Purple Rain and Sign O' the Times. He sold more than 100 million records during his career. A singer, songwriter, arranger and multi-instrumentalist, Prince recorded more than 30 albums. His best known hits include Let's Go Crazy and When Doves Cry. "Another Legend has gone".
