Queen cancel remaining 2016 tour dates

Brian May, the lead guitarist and founding member of the rock band Queen, announced that the group was axing the remainder of their scheduled shows for 2016 while May grapples with an persistent medical condition.

"We’re very sad today to announce the indefinite postponement of our ‘candlelight’ concert dates this coming December. This is a decision I’ve agonised over, but in the end it has become inevitable. I managed to complete the recent Queen and Adam Lambert dates in Asia but I have been increasingly battling with a persistent illness which is destroying my energy and my will," May said in a statement posted on his official website. 

And Mariah Carey is cancelling concerts in Brazil, Argentina and Chile on her Latin America tour.  According to E! News, the singer is citing promoter negligence as the reason. 

Queen top advertising sync licences

New figures show that the UK record industry's sync income was up 6.4% in 2014, generating revenues of £20 million: Queen had the most syncs in 2014 according to adbreakanthems, including  Tesco, Furniture Village and Thomson holidays. Bonnie Tyler's 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart' was the most synced individual song, it was used by Innocent Drinks, Toyota and Cadbury's. The BPI's Geoff Taylor said: "Clinching a sync deal in the entertainment capital of the world can transform an artist's career literally overnight and launch them to a new global audience. Through the BPI's annual trade mission with the Music Publishers Association and UKTI, we can help artists and the labels and managers who invest in them by introducing them first-hand to Hollywood royalty at media giants such as NBC Universal, CBS and Walt Disney".

Queen's Greatest Hits top 6 million in the UK

Queen's 1981 'Greatest Hits' release has become the first album ever to sell six million copies in the UK. Martin Talbot from the Official Charts Company said "Becoming the first album to pass six million sales is a quite incredible achievement by Queen and their iconic 'Greatest Hits' album. Ever since it was first released in 1981, this package of classic pop and rock tracks has been an indispensable item in every music fan's record collection - perhaps THE definitive greatest hits album!"

Lambert joins Queen for Knebworth

Queen have announced a headline slot at Sonisphere 2012 in the UK. with Adam Lambert filling in for the much missed Freddie Mercury. The festival takes place 6th-8th July at Knebworth. Kiss and Faith No More are also confirmed.
