The Houses of Parliament rocked last night (26 November) at a special event hosted by Mike Weatherley MP to launch Rock The House 2013, the competition to promote new talent and great venues. Playing live, the 2012 competition under 18 winners, Stoneway, admitted that just two nights before they had been gigging to an empty pub in Warrington before their trip to London and the slot in front of politicians, music industry guests and musicians in the grand setting of the Speakers State Rooms. The event was sponsored by Yamaha, PRS for Music, Orange, Future Music Publishing and UK Music amongst others
Every single UK MP is invited to nominate a solo-artist, a band, an under-18s act and the best small live music venue from their constituency. A panel of international music industry experts and musicians will determine the finalists who will compete in a live battle of the bands with the winners in each artist's category playing a live set on the Terrace of the House of Commons in the evening at a reception. Runcorn based Stoneway had been nominated by Weaver Vale MP Graham Evans.
