Russian PM calls for Pussy Riot clemency

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has called for the three jailed members of punk band Pussy Riot to be freed, saying their continued incarceration on convictions for religious hooliganism  is "unproductive" saying "In my view, a suspended sentence would be sufficient, taking into account the time they have already spent in custody". At least two of the other members of the band are believed to have fled Russia for fear of prosecution for the Christ the Saviour Cathedral alter protest against Vladimir Putin.
